DEXPRO™ PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

DEXPro™ dehydrates acid gases in natural gas processing. Natural gas water content dehydration criteria may be too stringent for commonplace acid gas systems. DEXPro™ ensure the correct level of water removal, minimal energy usage, and operational simplicity  DEXPro™ units can usually replace existing refrigeration or triethylene glycol (TEG) units.

The DEXPro™ system integrates into the design of the compressor to allow for maximum compressor performance and water dropout while minimizing hydrate formation, and keeping the system footprint small.

The DEXPro™ process takes advantage of the relatively high Joule-Thomson coefficient characteristic of acid gas and utilizes precision control of pressure and temperature to achieve gas dehydration.  Existing compression equipment combines with the DEXPro™ process to create an “auto-refrigeration” environment to cool the acid gas and condense the water and hydrocarbon liquids (in EOR applications).

THE DEXPRO METHOD

Facilities usually need to dehydrate acid gases prior to pipeline transport to minimize the risk of forming hydrates which (through condensation) may promote corrosion and operational challenges in piping or pipelines. The DEXPro™ process is simple and can be easily incorporated into existing compression systems, resulting in reduced capital costs. The main DEXPro™ process has no rotating equipment and no contaminating chemicals, which lowers the risk of unplanned maintenance or decontamination. These advantages significantly lower operating costs.

TECHNOLOGY PROCESS

STEP 1

The DEXPro™ patented process uses a TCV or JTV (Joule-Thomson Valve) and cools a stream of high-pressure dry acid gas by reducing the pressure, thereby expanding and cooling the gas.

STEP 2

The DEXPro™ Module mixes cool dry acid gas with wet acid gas to condense water from the wet acid gas stream.

STEP 3

The mixed stream is cooled enough to condense water and hydrocarbons out of the stream, which are collected in the downstream separator and/or suction scrubbers. These liquids are extracted and sent to storage or disposal.

STEP 4

Cool dry gas increases efficiency in the following compression stage.
